Gilberto Gil Opens Tunisian Jazz Festival

The legendary Brazilian composer and singer, Gilberto Gil will open the 2008 edition of "Jazz in Carthage" on April 10, 2008. The artist will feature a performance of the successful show 'Gil Luminoso,' which he presented to an American audience during his US tour in March 2007.

Solar Power Generating Systems in 500 Tunisian Households

Kyocera, one of the world's largest producers and suppliers of solar energy products, will supply and install its solar power generating systems in Tunisia under a yen-loan project by the Japanese government through Itochu Corporation. This will be the first case where Japanese loans will be applied to the delivery and installation of photovoltaic power systems in Tunisia.

Tunisia Expands Foreign Investment in Oil

Firms from Vietnam will form a joint venture with the Tunisian government to search for oil near Gabes in southern Tunisia. The Tunisian government hopes to to drill 15 new wells per year between 2007 and 2011, up from eight wells in the previous five years.
