U.S. Election Signifies New Direction in the Middle East

Leaders of Muslim organizations and countries in the Middle East agree that the election of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States signifies a new direction of the country's policies in the Middle East.

Some say that his election is a direct reaction against the American led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and hope that the American people will continue to push this new direction with the new administration.

Discontents in countries such as Kuwait are using the election to tell their leaders that they too want change and it is their duty to overthrow a regime that is not serving its constituents.

While some claim the election as a victory for radical militant organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda, most intelligence officials and politicians think that Obama's policies towards these specific groups will remain unchanged.
