Peace in the Middle East Hinges on Elections in Israel and the U.S.

This week's Economist includes two articles that are well worth reading. The first, entitled "Tzipi or Bibi?" starts with the statement "Peace depends less on Israel’s choice of prime minister than on the actions of America’s next president". I strongly agree with the first.

It is time to turn the page on the devisive, bullying of the Bush administration; on hiring by idelogy rather than competence, and on the monochromic views and cronyism that have dimished the United States' identity, allowed greed to ravege its economy and greatly reduced its military.

On the question of whose actions will have the greatest impact on peace in the Middle East, only time will tell. I do believe, however, that if an American president can help to bring about resolution of these very complex issues, Barack Obama is the candidate most likely to accomplish it.

Also check out the Economist's resounding endorsement of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States.
