Israelis Walk for Unity

A diverse group of Israelis journeying on a two month walk along the Israel Trail is nearing the halfway marker. The purpose of the trek is threefold:
- to unite the diverse perspectives and people of Israel, in memory of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin who was assassinated in 1995 by an Israeli religious fanatic following Israeli peace agreements made with the Palestine Liberation Organization and with Jordan;
- to celebrate 60 years of Israeli statehood; and
- to encourage Israelis to escape city life and explore the natural beauty of the land.
